Sport represents an essential pillar in many countries, including Austria, and contributes significantly to the economy and to the promotion of healthy lifestyles. To further strengthen the sports sector and increase its competitiveness, it is crucial to develop effective data solutions and facilitate the exchange of relevant information. Through the Sport Data Space, data is made visible and usable for all participants.
Mission
The mission of the Sport Data Space is to strengthen and promote the sports sector in Austria by enabling secure data use across organizations and sectors. The aim is to connect the sports sector even more closely with the tourism sector and the healthcare sector. The Data Space Sports is to play a significant role in making Austria even more attractive as an international sports destination, while at the same time supporting and exploiting trends in mass sports.
Vision of the Sports Data Space
Data Space Sports enables Austrian sports federations, clubs and organizations to provide neutral access to sports-related data, applications and visualizations. The vision is to reshape the sports experience in Austria and enable innovative business models, improved services at events and simplified access to sports offers or equipment. By combining data from the sports, tourism and health sectors, new opportunities for personalized and sustainable sports experiences will be created. Austria is to be positioned as a leading sports destination that not only attracts international guests, but also promotes and supports mass sports.
Health and well-being
Data Space Sports supports Austria in the continuous improvement of SDG 3 Health and Wellbeing of the UN. By using data and linking information, the aim is not only to promote sporting events, but also to support a health-conscious lifestyle in the population. The Data Space Sports offers opportunities for the promotion of health campaigns, personalized health analyses, nutrition & training plans as well as to a more attractive experience and club culture in mass sports. This not only promotes sporting activity, but also the health and well-being of people in Austria.
Incentives for stakeholders
Creation of neutral access to sports-relevant data, applications & visualizations to enable data-driven decisions and to offer third parties the opportunity to actively participate in the digitization of the sports industry and to develop innovative business models. Sports organizations and other stakeholders can thus jointly develop and use creative solutions regionally, nationally and internationally without giving up their data sovereignty.
