Use cases are topic-specific platforms within a data space. Develop data circles with us and help solve industry-specific and industry-sector problems.

DIO Use Cases

Use cases focus on a sub-area of a domain and enable the exchange, use and trade of data in a clearly defined sub-area. They are intended to be traded and ultimately shared on a virtual data market.

Examples of Use Cases: Neuro-oncology, health data in research, COVID-19 data, smart farming, road safety.

Questions to Use Cases

When talking about data trading, the following questions sometimes arise:

  • How can my company, how can my business benefit from it?
  • How do I get a reliable technology solution?
  • What is the value of my data and who are the demanders anyway?
  • What data could I access?
  • How is it filtered and secured?
  • What does this data cost?
  • What effort do I have to put into my company?
  • What is data sovereignty? How is it secured?
  • What are the first steps?

The Association for the Promotion of the Data Economy and the Optimisation of Data Technologies cordially invites its stakeholders to answer these questions in use cases.

The results of the lead project “Data Market Austria” make it possible for data demanders and providers from an economic sector, industrial sector or other field of application to exchange and trade their data in a clearly defined space called a use case. Technologically, for example, a “mobility” use case connects data from multiple sources in order to build and offer sustainable online services on top of it and to conduct this data trade while maintaining data sovereignty by the data owners.

DIO invites working groups to develop use cases that aim to solve industry-specific and industry-sectoral problems.

The aim is to build the exchange and trade of multiple data sources and services in such a way that sustainable value creation and individual business profit can be achieved.

The aim of the future use cases is to enable and substantially accelerate the implementation of exchange and joint use of anonymised and pseudonymised data for research and technology development. The strategy of the working group aims to establish focused data circles that implement use cases that encompass the chain from data acquisition to analysis to utilisation. In addition to identifying and developing solutions for existing barriers, data circles will develop reusable blueprints for roll-out to similar areas. This bottom-up approach ensures that the work is user-driven and relevant, thus ensuring the involvement of doctors and patients. In this way, initial lighthouse projects should clearly show the benefits for the Austrian health, technology and research landscape.
