IMAGINE23 is the flagship event for digital technologies of the Austrian Ministry of Technology (BMK) and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency. The exchange about different projects in the field of digital technologies took place this time in the Expedithalle in Vienna and was a wonderful opportunity to learn about individual projects, participate in workshops as well as to network.
“𝙒𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 & 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨”
In a changing world, we need creative minds and diverse perspectives to overcome complex challenges as well as crises. Key digital technologies play a crucial role in this. Through trust and the use of technology as a bridge between different generations, we create a strong foundation for collaboration.
Under the event motto “Creative Minds – Diverse Perspectives,” the workshop on Transformative Ecosystems discussed insights, challenges and ideas based on various examples from different ecosystem initiatives. The workshop was one of five parallel sessions and was initiated by Prof. (FH) Dr. habil. Guido Kempter (FH Vorarlberg) and Dr. Gerda Geyer (FFG). Lisa Nußbaumer (DIO) co-moderated the workshop as technical expert. Small groups worked on a variety of issues, including data protection requirements and heterogeneous data collection, which play a central role in data sharing and trading in Data Spaces.
Thanks again to all who participated in the exciting discussion sessions.
Marcos Moschovidis, Lisa Nußbaumer and Lisa Kolar (DIO crew) met many familiar faces again (e.g. from nexyo – Natascha Totzler, Elias Lanbacher; Industrieplattform 4.0 – Roland Sommer; #SDG HUB – Lyndon Nixon; Weblyzard – Arno Scharl; UBIMET – Markus Jech). A practical opportunity to exchange ideas about ongoing or future projects in person, to gather impressions on the topic of Artifical Intelligence (AI) and to plan further ideas together. In addition, the DIO team was able to once again draw attention to the topic of the data service economy as well as its own role as a platform and make some new, interesting contacts in order to jointly enable a data-driven, sustainable future.
Green Data Hub: Sharing sustainable data in a trustworthy way.
One of the most important cornerstones for a thriving data service economy is trust. Trust between partners is essential in order to operate together across national or even generational boundaries. In this process, values, norms and interests, for example, are also transported and enable a lively, diverse exchange. In the Green Data Hub, the collaborative and value-adding sharing of sustainable, “green” data on a European level actively implements use cases and demonstrates the benefits for society and organizations. Together, we can address societal as well as climate and environmental challenges.
AI for Green: new call for proposals is open
For those who want to participate in an interesting call, the “AI for Green” call is a good opportunity:
Protecting the environment, climate, resources and preserving biodiversity are key goals for sustainable development of the world (SDGs). Only through far-reaching transformation steps in all areas of life will humans succeed in securing a world worth living in for future generations. In this context, the Austrian Federal Government has set itself the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2040. In order to achieve these goals, measures must be taken to protect the climate and the environment (mitigation) as well as to adapt to the consequences of climate change (adaptation). Artificial Intelligence (AI) research can support technology and policy in mitigating climate change, thereby helping to protect the environment. For example, the deployment or further development of algorithms and AI systems can help adapt to the impacts of climate change by providing more accurate decision-making tools to the energy, manufacturing, agriculture, forestry, or disaster management sectors.
The AI for Green 2023 call is open from mid-June to October 3, 2023.
