About the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber
The Austrian Federal Economic Chambers represent more than 540,000 member companies. As the strong voice of businesses, we advocate future-oriented policies that secure prosperity, employment and social peace. We promote and support Austrian companies with a wide range of services and know-how, and with our educational institutions we help to improve the opportunities and competitiveness of the domestic economy. Especially in the area of digitization, we support companies by creating innovation-friendly framework conditions, as well as measures and funding instruments for digital transformation.

The Innovation and Digitization Department of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ) is actively involved in shaping framework conditions to develop Austria into a leader in innovation and digitization.

Our motivation to become part of DIO
In the WKO digitization strategy published in 2022, lighthouse projects in the area of data are central building blocks (e.g. application center for data & AI, development of data rooms, etc.). In this context, the DIO is an essential stakeholder and cooperation partner.
Data is a key resource for the success of companies, which is why the topic of data management is becoming increasingly important for Austria as a business location and for our members. In order to be able to exploit the existing “treasure trove” of data, it is particularly essential to have a central institution that networks stakeholders who generate, process and use data. As part of the DIO, we have the opportunity to actively participate in the further development of the Austrian data economy and thus improve the framework conditions for data-driven business and our members.
